Is brown sauce becoming more popular than red?

A new report shows that the sale of brown sauce is rising, whilst ketchup and other sauces suffer a decline.

Market research analyst Mintel discovered that more and more British people are favouring spicy brown sauce, with 58 per cent of 1,500 people saying they now keep a regular bottle at home. 

Although the ‘nation’s favourite’ is still considered to be tomato sauce, with 87 per cent of Brits calling it a staple household item, Amy Lloyd from Mintel said: ‘Brown sauce has been the surprise star performer of the table sauces market, bucking the downward sales trend experienced by other sauces.’

Ketchup, barbeque and chilli sauce have all seen their sales drop in the past year.

    I prefer Red to brown but mayonnaise is better than both!!!

    I have never had brown sauce but i like red sauce but most of all i LOVE chilli and mayonase sauce

    My sister loves ketchup - i don't think she prefers brown sauce as she never touches it!

    I agree,but I only like garlic mayonnaise!!
