I won Song Academy’s first ever songwriting competition

I won Song Academy’s first ever songwriting competition

I recently won Song Academy’s first ever songwriting competition. My song is called Don’t be Down.

When I was invited to record my song, I was very excited as I had never been to a recording studio before. I went with my mum and dad to London where we met up with Rowena, Christina and Patrick from Song Academy.

In the recording studio there was a massive desk with loads of knobs and buttons on it.There were four giant speakers on the walls and, in front of the microphone, there was a circle thing that stops your p’s and b’s coming out too loud on the recording.

Patrick had recorded a backing track for my song which I sang along to and Christina played the guitar. It was great fun and I learned a lot about how a song is recorded!

Before I won the competition, my dad sent a recording of me singing Don’t be Down to our friends whose son, Henry, is fighting leukaemia. He’s only two-years-old. He really loves my song and it makes him happy so I am raising money for CLIC Sargent to help children with cancer.

Please listen to my song at www.songacademy.co.uk/competitions/
