I went to the Ian Poulter Junior Invitational golf tournament
16-year-old Woburn Member and Women’s British Open Amateur Champion, Lauren Taylor reports from the Ian Poulter Junior Invitational
Woburn was buzzing when I arrived – the clubhouse was full of all the players queuing in line for the registration and Oakley shades fitting!
We also all got given an IJP Design shirt and are now IJP Design Junior Ambassadors! It was the start of a fun day and I got grouped into a great 3 ball, the two lads were talkative and we had a great game.
For me golf is about having fun; it is when I play my best golf. A lot of my golfing friends wanted to be there but it was invites only!
After I got my goody bag and scorecard, it was off to play on the Marquess’, it was the toughest conditions, the greens were super quick and the pin positions were in very tough places, exactly like championship golf.
Ian came round in the mini hummer and spoke to the players during the round.
His clinic was great and he gave us all some brilliant tips and demonstrations on how to play different shots. He had great banter with the players and was there all day.
Everyone enjoyed the prize giving and the fantastic BBQ afterwards where we all mixed and were able to chat with Ian and Gary Boyd.
Everyone had a great time; a fantastic tournament – awesome he tweeted my win.
