I was selected as one of the UK’s most successful young and earning music composers
I was selected as one of the UK’s most successful young and earning music composers.
The Class of 2011 event hosted by PRS for Music was set up to recognise and support the UK’s most promising and up and coming talent for songwriting and composing.
Yesterday I travelled down from Yorkshire to London to meet up with several other talented teenage singer-songwriters and music composers to receive an award from Guy Fletcher, chairman of PRS for Music.
PRS for Music arranges for the money to be collected on behalf of UK singer-songwriters earned from Royalties.
That means that they pay money to their members(music composers like me), every time one of my songs is performed in public by myself or played on TV or the Radio.
Guy gave a short talk about the history of the PRS organisation, and this was followed by an interview with Wretch 32, who is currently number one in the music charts. He was really helpful and explained how he became successful. He gave us loads of useful tips and told us about his own experiences. Wretch 32 said that his success was down to hard work, determination, talent and luck.
Another well-known singer-songwriter, Tony Moore, was also there. He said that we were the future of the music industry which gave us confidence and hope for the future. The day was really informative and was a great experience.
