The dance school I go to is danscentre in Aberdeen, Scotland. I attend seven classes during the week, which include ballet, jazz and tap. I also attend a contemporary class on a Saturday, which is where our contemporary dance, Sunrise, was created.

The group that I dance with is quite a big group, with mostly girls and three boys. Our dance is about tribes, the circle of life, and it has an animal and friendship flavour to it too.

Sunrise was originally created for a small show that we did at the start of the year, which made it such a surprise when our dance teacher told us that we had got a place, along with 24 other acts, to perform at Dance Proms in London’s Royal Albert Hall. That was out of over 1,000 people who entered the competition!

I am so excited about watching all the other dance acts and dancing on the Royal Albert Hall stage next month! I am also looking forward to all the new people I will meet, the build-up to the day and this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
