Horsefly named after Beyoncé
A scientist has just discovered a new type of horsefly with a unique golden bottom.
The fly has been called Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae after the famous singer Beyoncé Knowles. It was also captured in the same year that Beyoncé was born – 1981.
The species, and its bright behind, have made it into the history books, although scientists are still waiting to find another live one of its kind.
For now, the insect has been nicknamed the “gold bum fly” and is a rare but exciting discovery.
