Harry Potter turns 30?

He doesn’t look it, does he?

 

But if Harry Potter was a real person he would have just turned 30 years old. JK Rowling gave the boy wizard her own birthday – 31 July – and the year 1980 as the year he was born. So when the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published in 1997, Harry would have been 17, rather than the age 11 he is in the first book.

Daniel Radcliffe, who has brought the character alive in all of the movies, has just turned 21, so a few years younger than his famous character.

The final book of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has been made into

two movies. The first will be in cinemas in November, the second next year.
