Grand Prix glory for Mark Webber (... at last)
Australian Mark Webber celebrated the end of the 2011 Formula One season with a dramatic win – his first in 26 races.
He finished ahead of his Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel and McLaren’s Jenson Button.
Vettel had led for most of the race but developed gearbox problems, and so let his team mate past and concentrated on ending in second place. Lewis Hamilton also had gearbox problems, which forced him out of the race.
Vettel has dominated this year’s races, with 11 wins and a record 15 pole positions out of 19 grands prix.
Adding up the points for the whole season means that the driver’s final positions are Vettel (392 points), Button (270 points), and Webber (258 points).
