Graduate claims that working in Poundland was a 'breach of her human rights'
A graduate on benefits who was forced to do work experience in Poundland is trying to sue the Goverment, saying that they 'breached her human rights'.
Cait Reilly was told that if she wanted to continue claiming benefits that she had to do two weeks unpaid work experience at Poundland.
Reilly had signed up to a Government work programme designed to help unemployed young people find work.
In return for £53-a-week Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) each person is expected to do unpaid work experience.
However, Reilly claims that she was already doing voluntary work at Birmingham’s Pen Room Museum. So shouldn't have had to work at Poundland too.
She said: "I was actually doing something that was helping me work towards a job and was taken away from that to do something of no value to me. It was very frustrating."
She says that the scheme broke article 4 (2) of the Human Rights Act, which states: ‘No one shall be required to perform forced or compulsory labour.’
What do you think? Did working in Poundland break Cait Reilly's human rights?

I think she is right. If shes already doing it at the Science museum, then thats unfair. Why are the government making her do this if shes already doing it? oBjECtIoN!
