Gorilla gets health check

It’s said that moving home can be one of the most stressful things you can do.

So, no doubt, gorilla Yakini was happy to be put to sleep and to let other people do the hard work for his big move. The enormous primate has, along with two other males – Ganyeka and Motaba – been moved to a new multimillion pound exhibit at a zoo in Australia.

Yakini was the last of the three to be transported and vets took the chance to give him a thorough medical check-up.

After being sedated and wrestled onto a huge examination table, Yakini was checked over by a team of vets before being given a clean bill of health.

Then he was taken to his new 6,000 square metre pad, where he will remain until he is old enough to join a gorilla breeding programme.

That is great that he has so much space to roam. It must have been a struggle to move him though!
