First News interviews internet sensation Justin Bieber!

Justin Bieber is the hottest new sensation storming the charts. Born in Canada, 15-year-old Justin is already number one on iTunes with his debut album, My World. First News reader Eli Miansarow went to interview him.

He was spotted just two and a half years ago on YouTube, and has since had more than 100 million video views. Two of his biggest fans are President Obama’s daughters who persuaded their dad to invite him to sing at a Christmas concert in Washington.

This week he brought London’s Westfield shopping centre to a standstill as more than 2,000 screaming girls descended on HMV for the signing of his new album.

I was lucky enough to interview him for First News. He was funny and nice and very good-looking. Here’s what he said.

How are you enjoying London and are you surprised at how popular you are?

I’m loving it, it’s fun. I’m very surprised by the reaction. I think that it’s great, just coming from YouTube and having that opportunity to show my music. My British fans are amazing. They are a lot of fun and very devoted.

What’s the craziest thing a fan has ever done to you?

Well, there were some crazy fans here in London. Girls just running in front of our car as we’re trying to drive away. I don’t really get scared of them though as I’ve got a really big bodyguard!

You seem very confident, do you ever get nervous when you perform?

Yeah, the most nervous was when I performed for President Obama. It went amazingly. It was fun. I got to meet him before the performance. I got to shake his hand and take a picture with him and his wife, which was a lot of fun. His daughters were the ones who suggested me for the performance.

Did you meet them too?

No, they couldn’t make it for last minute security reasons, but they were the ones who told their parents about me.

Did you think you’d be this big so quickly?

Not really. Sometimes I feel like it happened fast, but sometimes I feel like it didn’t happen fast. I’ve been working on this for about two and a half years now.

Your album is now out, is that exciting?

Yes, I’m very excited. My album is actually number one on iTunes. My favourite song on my album is probably Down to Earth. I wrote it for my parents. My parents split up when I was very young. It was definitely hard on me not having them both together and stuff. My dad was always around, but he didn’t live with me, so it was hard. Now he travels with me sometimes and my mum travels with me too. They are both very supportive. As a 15-year-old boy I want to be with my friends, so it can be annoying at times!

What are your hopes for this year?

To do a tour of the UK. There are no dates yet, but there are definitely going to be some shows over here!
