First News at the Kids' Baftas
Richard Hammond, Hannah Montana, Wii Sports Resort and Club Penguin were all winners at the 2010 EA British Academy Children’s Awards in London. Regular First News junior reporter Tom was joined by friends Noah and Oliver from the Tower House School in London to report on this special event.
It was a rainy Sunday evening but we had the most exciting night ever at the Children’s Baftas this week.
All our favourite stars came to talk to First News as they arrived. Bonnie Wright, who plays Ginny in the Harry Potter movies,
Will Poulter from Son of Rambow and Jamie Campbell Bower who is in the final Harry Potter films and in the Twilight Saga
New Moon were just three of the film stars
we met.
Angellica Bell from CBBC told us her favourite TV show is Short Change and she wants Joe or Danyl to win X Factor this year.
The whole Milkshake team from Five TV came by. Derek Moran and his fellow presenters told us how much fun they have making Milkshake.
First News fans Jamie Rickers and Anna Williamson from GMTV’s ToonAttick were there too. Jamie agreed with Oliver, that SpongeBob Squarepants is the best ToonAttick show. Poor Anna has a broken
leg, but she looked very pretty in a bright green dress.
Dick and Dom were hosting the awards and we loved meeting them. They told us they have the best job in the world. They just get to act bananas for a living.
An actor called Bernard Cribbins was there to collect a special award for contribution to children’s television. He has appeared in everything from Doctor Who to the Railway Children, but his favourite kids show is Jackanory.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Tom’s favourite star, Richard Hammond came over to see us. It was the second time he picked up the best presenter award for Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab, definitely the right winner according to Tom.
Tom has interviewed Richard before and we were all really excited when he came over to chat to us. He looked at Tom and said: “It’s getting unfair, stop growing, you’re taller than me now!”
Johnny Vegas, who stars in the PG Tips adverts with the monkey was really funny, we loved meeting him.
We were all pleased that Club Penguin won an award, it was voted for by children as the best website. Oliver is a huge fan of the site!
It was certainly a memorable evening but don’t just take our word for it – check out more pictures and videos of us talking to the stars at www.firstnews.co.uk
