Final defeat for England's hockey team
England’s hockey side got to their first ever Champions Trophy final this week, but had to settle for second place.
The team had performed well to reach the final, but were soundly beaten 4-0 by Australia. Luke Doerner and Des Abbot got Australia off to a great start, both scoring in the first ten minutes of the match.
“We started slowly, and if you start slowly against Australia, they punish you,” said assistant coach Bobby Crutchley. “They’re the best team around. Even then, we did cause them some trouble towards the end of the first half.”
