Fabio Capello resigns as England manager
The England football manager Fabio Capello has resigned, just months ahead of the team's appearance at the European Championships.
Capello was unhappy with the way that the FA stripped John Terry of the captaincy, as a result of Terry's upcoming court case for alleged racist abuse.
The Italian then gave an interview to a TV station in his home country, in which he said that he was annoyed with the way the FA made the decision without consulting him.
The Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is now the overwhelming favourite to take over the England manager's job, although his bosses at Spurs will not want him to go. Redknapp has just been cleared by the courts of deliberately avoiding taxes, so that will clear the way for the FA to offer him the job, although they will still have other managers on their short list.
Current and former England players, such as Wayne Rooney and Gary Lineker, have said that Redknapp is the man for the job. Many within the game think that Redknapp is one of the best around at motivating players and getting the best out of them. A lot of people also think that the manager should be English, as Capello was often criticised for not understanding the English game, as well as his difficulties with the language.

I think it is a good thing that he left. He would have been fired soon. Also, he was overpaid and didn't do a good job.
