FORMER Formula 1 racing champion Michael Schumacher is struggling in hospital after hurting himself while skiing.
The 44-year-old was involved in an accident in France on Sunday (29 December). Doctors treating him have said he suffered “serious brain trauma” after he reportedly hit his head on a rock. He was wearing a helmet at the time.
Schumacher was skiing with his teenage when the accident took place.
The German racing driver won seven Formula 1 championships at the height of his career.
His agent, Sabine Kehm, said: “Michael fell on his head during a private ski trip in the French Alps. We cannot give a running commentary on his state of health. He was wearing a helmet and was not alone.”
