Crazy 999 calls shock emergency services

Emergency – my gerbil is having a baby

Briton walks

the length of

the Amazon

After an incredible two

and a half years and 6,000 miles British explorer Ed Stafford has become the first man to walk the entire length of the Amazon.

On Monday Ed Stafford, 33, reached the Atlantic in Brazil, 859 days after setting out on his epic journey in the jungles of Peru.

The former Army captain from Hallaton, Leicestershire, got a horrific 50,000 mosquito bites during his adventure.

Although the Amazon is 4,000 miles long, Ed had to walk a further 2,000 miles up and down mountains and through jungle to conquer it.

Emergency – my gerbil is having a baby

A WOMAN dialled the emergency number 999

to say her gerbil was having a baby.

This is just one of a string of crazy emergency calls that police in Sussex have revealed this week. In another call, a man phoned to report that his Chinese takeaway was late! And a woman dialled

999 to tell police she had lost

her slippers.

The examples of time-wasting have been released by police as a reminder only to call them in cases of real emergency.
