Elephants scared of ants

Elephants scared of ants

Scientists have discovered that elephants are actually scared of tiny ants!

Despite their giant size, elephants are scared of one of the smallest creatures in the world; the ant.

Scientists found that elephants won't go near trees covered with ants because they are scared that the tickling creatures will crawl up their trunks!

The scientists saw that elephants wouldn't eat the leaves of tree covered with ants.

''When trees had ants on them, the elephants avoided those trees like a kid avoids broccoli,'' said Professor Todd Palmer who took part in the research. "It seems that elephants simply do not like ants swarming up the insides of their trunks, and I can't say I blame them.''
