Does having pets make you happier?

by Hannah Greenfield Monday, 4 March 2013

Research conducted by an online pet company states that houses with pets are happier and healthier.

There are lots of benefits to having pets. According to psychologists, pets can help you learn lots of life skills, including companionship, how to play together and how to deal with times of trouble.

Caring for a pet also helps owners understand responsibility, as all pets need to be cared for and looked after.

Mark Singleton from Pets4homes.co.uk says: “Both parents and children can benefit from having a pet. They are a source of stimulation for brain and body and a huge source of happiness.”

Dogs are the UK’s favourite pet and there are lots of different breeds to choose from.

If you are thinking of getting a pet, whether it is a small animal like a hamster or a guinea pig, or a larger animal like a dog, make you sure you research your choice of pet properly. Some animals live a very long time and they will rely on you to look after them.
