Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen dies
Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen has died from cancer at the age of 63.
The Liverpool-born actress died yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer, leaving behind her husband of 43 years Brian Miller and her daughter Sadie.
Avid Doctor Who fans will remember the actress for her role as the Doctor's assistant, Sarah Jane Smith, back in the 1970s.
In 2007 the actress was given her own spin-off show called The Sarah Jane Adventures, where she got the opportunity to reprise her original role once again.
The creator of The Sarah Jane Adventures, Russell T Davies, commented: "The universe was lucky to have Sarah Jane Smith; the world was lucky to have Lis."

I can't believe that! I watched her on Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures all the time! Who will play her role now! :(

Ican't believe it! I was hoping there would be another series of Sarah Jane Adventures but I guess there probably wont be unless the doctor takes over.

I just can't believe that she's gone! I've been following her for years. It was horrible when I heard the news. No one can ever replace her, because she was THE Sarah Jane. I've followed her for years! My thoughts are with her family and friends. Anyone who wants to pay tribute to her tune in to CBBC, straight after the new episode of Doctor Who finishes (18:45) for a special programme dedicated to Elisabeth Sladen. RIP.

Can not believe it! My Dad was a big fan and loved the Sarah Jane Adventures! I didn't even know she had cancer! And she was looked really young!

The programme 'My Sarah Jane-A Tribute to Elizabth Sladen' is really nice.Lots of people,including David Tennant and Matt Smith talk about Elizabth Sladen and why she was such an incredible person.

Well-loved Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen has died aged 63, after a long battle with cancer. Elisabeth Sladen first appeared on TV screens on the children's science-fiction TV series 'Doctor Who' in 1973, and became the Doctor's companion. After leaving the show in 1976, fans did not see her on-screen character of Sarah Jane Smith until April 2006, when Sarah Jane met the Doctor (David Tennant) again. Although she decided not to become a companion alongside Billie Piper in the TARDIS, she was given her own spin-off children's show the following year, 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' which saw four series before Sladen's death. A special programme paying tribute to the actress was aired on Saturday 23rd April on CBBC and took place after the Doctor Who Easter special.
