Do adults understand you?

MORE than half of young people think adults don’t understand them, says a new report.

 

They are also worried that more attention is given to a small number of young troublemakers, rather than the huge number of young people who are making a good contribution to society.

The “Listen Up!” report was based on a poll of 6,000

11 to 25-year-olds, and by talking to more young people in schools and youth projects.

The results showed that young people are not bothered about becoming rich and famous but are interested in politics and being responsible.

More than seven out of ten young people said they regularly volunteered or helped other people.

The Jack Petchey Foundation, who are behind the report, found in an earlier study that one in four adults would cross the road to avoid young people.

Warren Gibson, 15, explained how this made him feel: “Even if I’m just walking down the street by myself, some adults will cross the road to get away from me and it does actually hurt my feelings. It’s only the smallest minority of young people that are looking for trouble but so many adults would cross the road. That’s not fair.”

First News is read by one in four young people in the UK and is helping your generation to find out what is going on in the world in which you’re growing up. Even though you are interested in politics and say you would vote in elections if you could, nearly half of you say politicians don’t care about you.

    They do sometimes but why do they think that younge adults are given a bad name by the bad behaving younge adults,and I don't get why adults cross over the road because you would have thought that because they have been in that position before so I would have thought they would have not crossed the road but said to their self's he/she's no threat to me but I think they are terrified by all this news about knife crime in london all this information about stabbings is coveing up the idea of there being good younge adulds out there, that want to do well in school and thing like that and all the news is saying know litrally is that younge adults are a real threat to sosiaty, and you should stay away from them and cross the road when you see the coming that is a load of rubbish and that is what I feel strongly about.

    i don't like it when ppl cross the road from young adults i ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stay on the same side- it doens't matter what they look like, it's just their personality type that matters and the majority of young adults have a really good personality type. It is soo unfair. When i see ppl in town like that ppl go away from them i HATE that!
