David Beckham seriously injures his ankle meaning he could miss out on World Cup team.

David Beckham snaps Achilles tendon

David Beckham's Word Cup hopes have been dashed by an Achilles tendon injury while during a match for AC Milan. Read more about it here...

David Beckham's hopes of making the England World Cup team are over after the football star snapped his Achilles tendon in a game against AC Chievo Verano.

Beckham injured his achilles tendon, even though he did not come into contact with another player during the match.

England manager Fabio Capello said it looks likely that Beckham will miss the World Cup, in June: "We have to wait for the results of the scan, but it looks like he is out of the World Cup.

"David is a great professional and has worked very hard to be ready for the World Cup, so missing it will be a big blow.

"I am very sad for David that he has suffered this injury."

Posting on his website yesterday, Beckham said: "I am on my way to Finland to see a specialist and have a scan on the injury.

"I am upset but wants to thank everyone for their messages of support.

"I hope to make a swift and full recovery."

Doctors are confident that Beckham will make a full recovery from the surgery he had yesterday to repair his Achilles tendon. Just not in time for the World Cup.
