Could a new island be created?
Scientists have said a new island could be being created by an undersea volcanic eruption in the Atlantic Ocean, south of the Canaries.
For more than a month, hot lava and gases have been erupting from the sea bed near the island of El Hierro, the smallest of the seven Canary Islands near Spain.
It has been happening for a while, and it means that all the lava will either create an entirely new island or it could be added to the side of the El Hierro island.
The islanders aren’t happy, though. The problem is, no-one knows when the eruptions will stop so many villages are deserted, and lots of bars, restaurants, and hotels are already closed, which is bad for business.
