Cockroaches can talk to each other!
They scuttle about in the dark and are resistant to nuclear bomb attacks (apparently), but did you know that cockroaches can talk to each other?
Did you know that cockroaches can talk to each other?Well not exactly ‘talk’, but they can communicate – mainly about food.
The hungry insects who forage for food in some of the most unsavoury of places, have been found to recommend good food sources to one another.
A London-based study has helped to explain why the much-loathed bugs are found feeding en masse. Dr Lihoreau says: “We don’t know how they communicate but we know they’re using chemicals.” He also pointed out that people tend to kill cockroaches rather than study them, which makes it difficult to learn much about their behaviour. So these findings come as something of a breakthrough!
