City hosts national eel day with eel throwing competition
The city of Ely is going rea-eely bonkers on 1 May when residents celebrate their Annual Eel Day.
Ely’s ‘Ellie the Eel’ will be heading a procession along part of the city’s Eel Trail Heritage Walk to Jubilee Gardens for a whole host of eel related activities including the National Eel Throwing Competition!
But don’t worry, real eels are not thrown, children and parents will actually be flinging handmade eel socks. For more information check out www.visitely.org.uk
