Bristol businesses launch their own currency
A group of businesses in Bristol have launched their very own currency, which can only be spent in Bristol.
The Bristol Pound has been approved by the local council and a credit union.
The idea is to encourage businesses to use the currency on local suppliers and shops. They can even pay local staff with the Bristol Pound.
So far, more than 100 firms in the area have signed up to take part in the scheme. A Bristol £1 will be the same value as £1 sterling.
