Borough of Greenwich becomes royal borough
The borough of Greenwich in southeast London has become the Royal Borough of Greenwich to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
It is one of four royal boroughs in the UK, and the first one to have been granted the status in more than 80 years.
The borough will play an important part in the 2012 Olympics, has had strong links to the royal family since the Middle Ages and is home to two palaces.
