Blue balls fall from the sky

A man is baffled after tiny blue balls fell from the sky into his garden.

Steve Hornsby from Bournemouth said the 3cm diameter blue spheres came raining down during a hailstorm on Thursday afternoon. He had to flick them into a jar with a spoon because they were difficult to pick up.

Steve said: “They have an exterior shell with a softer inner, but have no smell, aren’t sticky and do not melt.”

He’s keeping around 12 balls in his fridge while he tries to find out what they are, but experts say they are nothing to do with the weather.

One theory is that the blue balls could be marine invertebrate eggs which birds could have been carrying in their feet and let go of when they were caught in the storm.

That is really cool, but it's quite freaky, don't you think? They could be animal eggs but they could also be baby dino eggs for all we know!
