Are you due a summer of sun? Find out our weatherman's breakdown.

Following several bad summers, we want to know what the holidays have in store for us in 2010. First News weatherman Jonathan Powell provides the forecast for the remainder of July and all of August.

England

Plenty of dry and sunny weather to come, with only a few days worth of rain here and there. Temperatures generally in the early 20’s, but we may well see a few days where values creep into the 30’s. England could even break its record temperature of 38.5 Celsius.

Wales

A good deal of dry weather around for Wales, with rainfall below the seasonal norm. Temperatures will reach the mid 20’s at times, but on average be around 21c to 23c. Around the coastline, especially to the western side, it will be cooler, but nonetheless pleasant. The temperature record for Wales isn’t under threat this year.

Scotland

By far, the best month of Scotland’s summer will arrive in August, but things will be improving steadily throughout late July. August will probably be at its driest in Scotland, so expect a good deal of settled weather, with some warmer temperatures as well, comfortably into the 20’s. The Scottish record high temperature may fall, but it’s looking unlikely.

Northern Ireland

Here too, the best month of the summer so far will come in August, dry and often sunny, with some warm temperatures, very warm at times, but generally any values will be around the seasonal norm. The top temperature record here will not fall this year.
