Are there panthers loose in the UK?

MORE and more rumours are circulating about the possibility of a wild panther living in the Cotswolds.

In recent weeks a number of animal bodies have been found in separate incidents. Three wallabies and three deer have been found with puncture wounds to the neck, which are similar to those made by a panther. The bodies were found stripped of all meat and with tufts of fur plucked out – something associated with big cat kills.

The wallabies were killed inside an area with 2m fencing, meaning the predator had to have jumped over the fences to attack them. The bodies have been sent off for DNA testing, although some people think it is the work of a fox.

There have been lots of reported sightings of big cats across the UK, with many people believing they are living wild in our woodlands.

What do you think? Did a big cat kill these animals or was it another predator? Vote online at www.firstnews.co.uk/polls.

My dads friend, who's a farmer, saw a panther run across one of his cattle fields. Bites on the neck is NOT how a fox kills. Neck bites are caused by being jumped on, then bit in the neck. It has to be a big cats doing!...
