Archaeologists find the bodies of 21 WWI German soldiers

French archaeologists have discovered the bodies of 21 German soldiers entombed in a World War One shelter.

The men were buried alive after an Allied shell exploded above their tunnel in 1918 and the whole place caved in.

94 years later they have been found in a perfectiy preserved trench on the former Western Front in eastern France.

Some of the soldiers were in the same positions they were thought to have been in when they died. A few were sitting upright on a bench, whilst one was lying down in bed.

The archaeologists also found items such as boots, weapons, wine bottles and books, as well as the skeleton of a goat.
