A new plane is promising to make air travel greener than ever before.

Air travel just got greener!

A new plane is promising to make air travel greener than ever before.

In just two years you could be flying on a plane which is quieter, uses less fuel and is made of carbon fibre, which is much lighter than the aluminium planes are usually made from.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is more spacious inside with more legroom and bigger windows to get a better view of the world you’re flying over. The most important improvements on traditional airplane design is that the Dreamliner uses one fifth less fuel and is 60% quieter, which means it’s about as noisy as an underground train. So this plane will release much less carbon dioxide into the air and be better for the environment.

As air travel accounts for around 5% of our carbon emissions, and the number of people flying is only going to increase, it is hoped that more planes like the Dreamliner will be made to reduce the environmental impact of flying. Thomson Airways will be the first airline to start using the new plane in 2012.

First news readers, carbon dioxide is not pollution. It is plant food. It is good for the environment to have more carbon dioxide. Co2 emissions are not causing global warming. The world has not warmed for over a decade. Studies have shown that in the past carbon dioxide comes after high temperature not before. I don't read first news, but I know it only reports one side of the story. To learn more about co2 and why man made global warming isn't real go to / and here are 31,000 scientists who don't believe in man made global warming /

I prefer the A380. And anyway, the carbon fibre and plastic it is made from produces loads of CO2 to be made. Also, plastic and carbon fibre are not biodegradable. Aluminium can be recycled.
