We helped First News at the BETT exhibition in London
On Thursday 12 January the Publishing Team at Oakhill Primary School – Harry, Ella, Anwar, Lily, Jessica and Declan – had a day out of school to visit the BETT exhibition in London.
It was great to arrive in the huge hall. It was bursting with lots of different people from lots of different places, and with the hundreds of companies that were at the exhibition to share their latest educational technology projects.
We went straight to the First News stand and were given T-shirts and name tags to show that we were junior journalists. Three of us stayed at the stall, trying out First News’ reading activities and giving out copies of the newspaper to teachers.
The others checked out the different stalls and wrote some notes about what they had to offer. Although we were given lots of free things like pens, our role was to investigate and write a report on what we found at the BETT show.
We tried many different ICT products, from exciting interactive whiteboards to music technology products. One of the best products we saw was an amazing 3D printer. From a 2D drawing on a page, this machine constructs a 3D model!
The day was great and we left with our bags full of information and free goodies, all bundling onto the train with many more things than we needed and knowing much more than we did when we arrived.
The BETT show was so good and we would recommend it to everyone for next year.
