6.5 tonne satellite set to hit Earth
NASA has said that a huge space satellite will crash to Earth any day
A research satellite is set to hit the Earth any day now, according to NASA scientists.
The 6.5 tonne research satellite was sent to space on September 14, 1991 with Space Shuttle Discovery. Its job was to measure the amount of ozone and other chemicals in the atmosphere.
It is expected to crash to Earth between Thursday and Saturday this week.
The satellite will break up into about 100 pieces when it hits the Earth's atmosphere. Most of these pieces will get burnt up, but 26 are set to hit Canada.
However, there is no need to be scared; the odds of being hit by one of the pieces is 3,200:1.

That's actually quite scary, although the fact that most of the pieces are set to hit Canada and the chances of being hit are low, makes you feel sorta less scared!

One of my friends at school was wondering what would happen if the satellite landed on our school! I'd rather not talk about it. :D
