Matilda the Musical has broken records for winning the most awards at the ceremony.

The four actresses who have played Matilda so far picked up the “best actress in a musical” prize in theatre’s Olivier Awards.

The musical is based on the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. It is currently showing at the Cambridge Theatre in London.

On Friday, a new Matilda, Jade Marner, ten, will play Matilda for the first time.

Jade is well-known to First News and has been a junior reporter for us several times.

In this interview here another junior reporter, Jade’s best friend, Liberty, talks to her about landing the part of Matilda, rehearsals and what it means to her to star in the show.
