VETS at SeaWorld in Orlando have successfully removed a 10cm fishing hook from the throat of an endangered loggerhead turtle.
The 45kg (seven stone) turtle was rescued from a water inlet near a power plant in Florida. It was taken for emergency surgery at SeaWorld Orlando after X-rays revealed the trapped hook. Luckily the operation was successful and the turtle is now being monitored while it recovers. It will eventually be released back into the wild.
The turtle is the ninth sea turtle rescued by SeaWorld Orlando this year.
