For the first time ever, whales and dolphins have been pictured playing together in the wild.
The humpback whale and dolphin were seen showing unusual signs of friendliness with each other off the coast of Hawaii. The whale appeared to lift the dolphin out of the water using its head and let the dolphin slide down its back and into the water, like a slide.
A report by the American Museum of Natural History said: “Whales and dolphins in Hawaiian waters often interact, but playful social activity such as this is extremely rare between species.”
There have been other reports of whales and dolphins playing in the past, but this is the first time it has been recorded.
