Animals get into the Halloween spirit

Keepers at Howletts Wild Animal Park near Canterbury in Kent treated the animals to some special Halloween themed enrichment when they presented them with pumpkins filled with treats.

As the Wild Animal Park prepared for the Halloween themed October half term the Sumatran tigers, lion tailed macaques, black and white ruffed lemurs and visitors favourite - western lowland gorillas were all given pumpkins stuffed with special treats suitable for their diets and nutrition.

Neil Spooner, Animal Director said: ‘It is important to provide enrichment for our animals – it helps keep them interested and offers new challenges for them. The pumpkins were perfect because the animals had to work out how to retrieve the treats inside.
