62-year-old woman sets off on dangerous swim

A 62-year-old woman is hoping to become the first person to swim from Cuba in the Caribbean to Florida: a 100-mile-journey through shark infested waters.

Shockingly, US swimmer Diana Nyad will swim through the shark infested waters without the protection of a shark cage, however, she will have a team accompanying her the whole way, to make sure that she is safe. 

Over forty years ago, Nyad was one of the world's greatest swimmers, and swimming from Cuba to Florida has been one of her lifelong dreams. She hopes to prove, by completing this epic swim, that you're never too old to live adventurously. 

Nyad set off on her epic 103 mile swim to Florida on Sunday.
