We asked YOU to interview rapper Tinchy Stryder. This is what he said...

How did you become famous?

I never think of myself as famous – but then I walk outside of my house., and, it’s like WOW! I just did my thing – I just did my music and became more and more well known.

How old were you when your first album came out?

What’s your favorite song you wrote and why?

I wrote a song on my first album Star In The Hood called ‘Rely On Me’ (See the video below).  It’s a bit deeper than the rest; it’s quite personal. It’s about when you realise when you are small that the only person you can rely on is yourself.

How can you help us get famous?

They can come and chill with me whenever they want (laughs)). Just joking – There’s no easy way to be famous, unless you do something crazy, but then you wouldn’t really want to be known for that. Just keep doing what you are good at and being famous will naturally come.

Did u want to be something else before u became a singer?

Before I wanted to become an artist I wanted to become a footballer. It didn’t quite turn out, so I became what I am now.

Who is your inspiration?

I get inspired by a lot of different thigns. When it comes to music I’ll have to say Jay-Z.

Do you enjoy what you do?

Yeah, I enjoy what I do man. If you don’t enjoy it, it’s time to stop doing it. It’s hard work so you have to enjoy it.

What inspired you to become a singer?

II used to watch a lot of TV and think ‘yeah, I wanna be like that’. I just loved music, so everything around me, all my hobbies, just inspired me.

How did you come up with the name Tinchy Stryder?

Tinchy – I was the smallest out of all my mates – I was always the ‘tinchy’ one. And Stryder – everyone has a last name, it didn’t feel right to just have one name. So I thought, “What can I call myself?” There was a game on the Sega MegaDrive called ‘Strider’ and I liked the sound.
