Would you live underground?

Would you live underground?

Architects in Mexico have come up with a clever way of making more space for offices and people, which doesn’t involve constructing tall skyscrapers.

As cities around the world get bigger, they start to run out of space to build on. Many cities also have restrictions on where new buildings can go and how tall they can be.

These are the problems that Mexico’s capital has. Mexico City is full of historic buildings, so to preserve the city’s character, architects have proposed to build down into the ground instead of up into the air.

Bunker Arquitectura have designed an upside down pyramid called the Earthscraper, which they say could be built right in the heart of Mexico City’s main square, the Zocalo. The square is currently used for all kinds of things, from concerts and exhibitions to military parades.

The architects plan to cover the Earthscraper with a thick glass roof, so that natural light can penetrate down through the building, while still allowing people to walk across the top and use the square.

What do you think? Would you be happy to live underground? Or to walk on top of the glass roof? Click here to take part in our poll!

I would, it sounds pretty cool. First of all, I thought it would be dark so I wouldn't go there, but beacause of the glass roof, I definitely would.

i am not sure at all because it might be a bit tight but i would if there were steps to get from underground to outside. it would be call if there were underground shops because there would be twice as many shops.
