First News went along to the Transformation Trust’s charity concert at the O2 to see some of our favourite acts perform live to thousands of school kids. The trust was set up last year to offer children from under-privileged backgrounds cool free trips – and, believe us, this concert was the ultimate summer holiday day out. We caught up with the stars of the show to talk all things summer…

Where would you spend your ideal summer?

Stacey Solomon: Well, I always used to go to Butlins and, although most people say “eww that’s tacky”, I love it. It’s my favourite place – I still go.

Nathan, The Wanted: Have you ever absorbed the culture of Benidorm?

Tom, The Wanted: It’s full of culture.

Tinchy Stryder: My life feels quite action-packed so, when I go on holiday, I like to just relax.

Tom, The Wanted: Erm, Cheryl Cole?

Do you get a suntan when you go away or stay pale?

Sam, Twenty Twenty: I just work with sun. Got to wear sun cream though; you have to be safe. Use protection. I tan quite well, start off the holiday with about Factor 30, and just work my way down!

Stacey Solomon: It take me ages to tan. This is fake tan. [Points to herself] I sunbathe for ten minutes and then I get heat exhaustion. The sun never hits me anyway, so I could be out in it all day and I’d still be as white as a milk bottle!

What’s the strangest thing you’ve eaten abroad?

Stacey Solomon: I had lobster once. I was worried it would be served in the shell and I wouldn’t know how to break it but, luckily, it wasn’t. I’ve never had frogs or snails but I’ve had mussels and they were horrible.

Sam, Twenty Twenty: I really like my food, so it’s nice to try lots of different stuff.

Jack, Twenty Twenty: After about two weeks away, I start craving fish and chips.

Jay, The Wanted: Tom is a fussy eater but he will always try something once when we’re away. Even if it tastes like vomit, he’ll do it.

What’s your favourite song for summer?

Stacey Solomon: I love The Wanted’s new song and I love JLS.

What’s been your best school trip?

Tom, The Wanted: PGL

Max, The Wanted: PGL is like loads of assault courses and outdoors stuff. It’s so fun.

Tinchy Stryder: Every time there was a school trip I always seemed to be unwell, so I ended up missing out on the trips – except for one when we went to Alton Towers. That was good fun.
