Mcfly's Dougie Poynter
As one member of McFly, he may have thousands of girls screaming at him but how will Dougie Poynter cope when he's the one screaming - out of fright - in the jungle? First NEws caught up with him to find out…
Are you excited about going into the jungle?
Definitly. I would pay to do something like this if I wasn’t doing it for TV. I am so excited! One of my best friends, Matt Willis, has done it before. He went on to win it. When I told him I was going to do it, he told me I had to. He said he had the best night’s sleep ever under the stars. His advice to me, however, was to make sure I don’t say the magic words: ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”
Who would be your fellow jungle buddy?
I am really into nature and Sir David Attenborough is a god to me. He would be my ideal person to go in the jungle if I could choose somebody.
As you're going in the jungle, and Harry is on Stricly, is this the end of McFly?
No. We have got a gap in our diaries at the moment and I thought it would be a lot of fun. This is my one and only TV project. Tom has done The Cube, Danny did Popstar to Opera and Harry’s currently on Strictly, so I thought it was my turn.
We are definitely not splitting up. Every time we disappear for a while, everybody asks where we have gone. But all bands do it. We have actually been writing some new songs for a new album.

What's your biggest jungle fear?
One of my biggest fears is losing my mind. I tend to over think a lot. If I let my head think for too long, then that is when the voices start talking!
I have sky dived twice and I have got it into my head that it will be the third time unlucky. I don’t want to do that again. I hated the first two. Everybody has told me that it’s the most amazing experience ever but for me, the first two really sucked.
Are you worried about getting really skinny when you go into the jungle?
Apparently bugs have got more protein than beef. I could come out bigger!
As you're a famous popstar, do you think that your role in the camp will as the entertainer?
"I don’t think I will be breaking out into singing, I am a bass player in McFly after all !
Will you miss your bandmates when you're in the jungle?
We are all so close and they are like brothers to me. I know this is going to be really tough and I know it will be just as hard, if not more nerve wracking, than performing on stage.
How does it feel to know that you'll be spending your birthday in the jungle (Dougie will be turning 24 during his stay there!)
I normally spend my birthday somewhere weird like a plane. I am used to it. I don’t like birthdays, I don’t like the attention.
