Make this: winter bird feeder
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is holding more than 100 events across the country to raise awareness of the help birds in the UK need over the winter.
To find an event near you log on to www.rspb.org.uk/feedthebirds.
There are lots of things you can do at home to help your local winged wildlife. There are lots of ideas on RSPB’s website and for a quick and easy bird feeder, try this idea:
Peanut butter pine cone feeder
You will need:
• A pine cone (pick one that has already fallen to the ground)
• Peanut butter
• Birdseed
• String (about 40cms long)
• Spoon
What you do:
1. Tie one end of the string to the top of the pine cone.
2. Spread peanut butter over the pine cone.
3. Pour the birdseed onto a plate and roll the pine cone over this so it becomes coated in seed.
4. Hang up the feeder outside and watch the birds eat!
