KID'S WORLD: Devilal
Devilal (in the blue jumper) missed out on school for a long time, as his parents did not think that the local school would let him go to the school because of his disability.
Sightsavers spoke to the family and the local school and now Devilal is enjoying his studies.
As well as teaching Devilal how to read and write using Braille (a special alphabet made up of raised dots that you feel with your fingertips), Sightsavers also helped Devilal learn how to get around on his own using a white cane.
Devilal says: “I like playing Kabaddi and Kho-Kho games and, when I grow up, I want to be a district magistrate!”
“I have won prizes for sports and singing and I really like my teachers at school.”
