Kervens Joseph lives in Haiti – Here is his story

Name: Kervens Joseph Lives: Port-au-Prince, Haiti Age: 8

Natural disasters are another reason why many children to miss out on their education. When the earthquake struck in Haiti in January this year, there was terrible destruction, chaos and tragedy.

ActionAid has been working with local partners to deliver food to displaced people living in Mariani, and will support communities to rebuild their lives.

Kervens is one of thousands of children whose lives and education have been affected. He had been living with another family, as his parents died some time ago, but when the earthquake struck, the family fled from Port-au-Prince and left Kervens behind.

Kervens says: “When the earthquake happened, all the buildings tumbled down so I ran to open ground. I just want to go to school.”

Now Kervens is living unaccompanied in the camp and fending for himself.
