India and New Zealand are still suffering from serious outbreaks of swine flu

Flu has flown

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the swine flu pandemic is over.

The WHO’s Emergency Committee declared last week that the H1N1 virus has “largely run its course”.

Health experts say that swine flu has not gone away, but that it is now behaving as a normal seasonal flu virus.

During the worst period, the swine flu virus was dominant over other forms of flu, but this is no longer true. The WHO’s director general said that it was “pure good luck” that the virus did not change into a more deadly form. However, this could still happen in the future.

The WHO and NHS have warned that people under five or over 65 years old are still vulnerable, as well as pregnant women and people with serious, long-term health conditions.

They recommend that you still sneeze into a tissue, cover your mouth when you cough, and wash your hands regularly and thoroughly.
