This week the second episode of FirstTV goes live on the internet and our brilliant studio guests are none other than the chart topping boyband The Wanted. We quizzed them on and off camera… so here’s a taster!

You’re now hugely successful pop stars. What jobs did you want to do when you were young?

Tom: I wanted to be a footballer!

Max: I wanted to be a footballer too.

Jay: I think every kid wants to be a footballer. I changed my mind every year. I wanted to be some sort of explorer. I didn’t know what that meant, I thought I’d just go in the jungle and get paid by a monkey.

Tom: I wanted to be an RAF pilot too but realised you needed maths and physics at A-Level. That was that.

Siva: I wanted to be a fireman at one point.

Max: Ha ha – you’d be coming out after putting a fire out and asking where your moisturiser was!

Do you remember the first time you performed in public?

Nathan: I was about six. I was on holiday and I was like “right I’m gonna get up and sing.” And I did. I literally just went wild on stage and took the microphone!

Max: As you do when you’re six.

Jay: I was in primary school and me and my best friend sang Bananas in Pyjamas.

All: (Singing) Bananas in pyjamas are coming down the stairs, bananas in pyjamas are…

Max: I sang when I was 11. It was the first time I’d ever sung in front of anyone and it was in front of the whole class during a music lesson on the first day of high school. On my birthday. That was grim. I had to sing Heal the World by Michael Jackson. It was as flat as a pancake.

Jay: Siva has been singing from birth. His whole family is really musical.

Siva: I’m trying to think of one moment… I used to sing in old men’s pubs in Dublin with my brothers when I was about 11.

Your debut single has been a massive hit. Are you already planning the next one?

Max: Yes, we just shot the video for the next single, Heart Vacancy.

Nathan: We shot it in Croatia. It’s quite exciting because it’s really different from the first video. It’s not what you’d expect when you hear the song. It sounds like we’d be singing to a really fit girl but we’re not. We’re just watching another guy with a really fit girl, which is gutting for us!

Jay: It’s like a mini movie that we’re the narrators of.

Siva: We’re not in it. We’re like the sound track for the movie. It’s not out for a while but we already can’t wait for you guys to see it!
