First News interviews the cast of Glee

Mark Salling and Ashley Fink play Puck and Lauren in the hit show Glee. Glee: The 3D Concert Movie is out now, so we caught up with the duo.

Glee is packed full of music. Do you have a favourite number?

Ashley: I loved Fat Bottomed Girls. It was one of my favourite songs before Mark did it on the show, and I love everything Mark does – which sounds cheesy, but it’s true. I also loved I Wanna Hold Your Hand.

Do people expect you to be like your characters?

Ashley: Especially in the UK, yes. In the States it’s more ‘Ashley and Mark’, but here it’s ‘Lauren and Puck’. They’re so invested in it that we’re definitely our characters to them. I think people are sometimes reticent to approach me because they’re nervous I’m going to be horrible. I’m like: “I’m nice, don’t worry!”

The Puck and Lauren dating story in season two gave you the chance to do more comedy…

Mark: That was great, because I got to explore different aspects of my character and different comedic situations with Ashley.

Mark, you’ve recorded an album. Are you planning a second one?

Mark: I haven’t had time to pursue that, but I do want to keep putting out music. It’s what comes natural to me. I did it before Glee so it’s not something I decided to do on the back of the show.

If you could play any other character on the show who would it be?

Ashley: Kurt. Why wouldn’t you want to be Kurt? He’s sassy and I love his song choices. He gets all the Broadway stuff, which is amazing.

Mark: I’d like to be Blaine because I think I’d look good in a blazer and I like the songs the Warblers do. I like the a cappella arrangements. They’re cool!
