Rachel Petladwala has played the geeky but brilliant Rose in the hit drama M.I. High for the last four series. This week the fifth series starts on CBBC and we caught up with Rachel to find out what is in store for Rose and the gang.

What can we expect from this series of M.I. High?

A lot more action, a bit more comedy and more mature storylines. All of the characters have progressed and there are loads of thrills packed into one series. The biggest challenge the spies face is probably when the Grand Master tries to end the world. But also personal things start to affect the characters’ actions as spies which causes a bad atmosphere on the missions.

What’s in store for Rose this series?

She’s out in the field a lot more and is more action based. I got to do loads more stunts too. I had some fight sequences which I was meant to have a stunt double for, but they let me take them on myself. It was great. Rose has definitely grown up too and romance blossoms finally. She has more than one though – so that’s progress!

Which guest stars are you looking forward to seeing on screen?

Obviously we’ve got Tracey Ann Oberman coming back to play the Grand Mistress and we have June Whitfield – she was so inspirational to work with. Our guest stars are amazing. They just get better every year.

Who would be your dream guest star?

Hands down my dream guest star for the show would be Johnny Depp. We’d be so star struck though – we were star struck when we met the people who were guest starring on this series so if we met Johnny Depp we wouldn’t be able to contain ourselves. We wouldn’t be able to film anything!

The show is famous for its great gadgets, but what gadget would you like to invent?

Something that does my exams for me! I’ve got my A levels this year so if the exams were to magically disappear that would be very good!

After all these years playing a spy, do you think you could cut it as a real member of MI5?

I’d love to be a spy in real life – it seems like so much fun. I’ve learned loads of spy skills from being on the show. Basically it’s kind of a stealth thing. You’ve got to be stealth-like, secretive and quiet. It’s all in the movements, making sure you don’t get recognised. I hope I’d make a good spy, otherwise it’s been five years for nothing!

Do you have a favourite memory from filming?

My favourite memory from filming was probably my birthday. Even though it’s supposed to be unlucky that I work every year, I think it’s lucky. This year I worked morning till night but it was really fun. I got little presents and cakes. They totally spoiled me!
