Logan Miller is one of the stars of Disney XD’s hit show, I’m In The Band. On a recent visit to London, we caught up with him to find out more about the show and his character, Tripp.

Tell us about the show!

I’m In The Band is a crazy rock and roll show, based on a fictional band called Iron Weasel who were really popular in the eighties. In an attempt to make a comeback they get a new lead guitarist – Tripp – who is just a teenager and much younger than them. The whole band live together and the show is full of the crazy antics that they get up to, from building rockets to medieval battles. 

What is Tripp like?

Tripp is very driven and knows what he wants to do. He’s passionate about music and just wants to make the band as successful as possible. He also likes to have a lot of fun and sees himself as a bit of a ladies’ man. I’d say he was an all round cool guy!

What is coming up for him this series?

This series is crazier than ever and so much happens. Tripp also starts to write his own songs and the band might be in with a chance of signing a record deal!

Tripp and the band first get together when he wins a competition – what is the best thing you’ve ever won?

I never win competitions but, when iPods first came out, I entered a competition in a local store and actually won, which was awesome! 

Did you have to learn to play the bass guitar for the role?

No, I didn’t. I have played the electric guitar since I was ten years old, first going to lessons but I ended up teaching myself most things and learning from friends in bands. I practise every day, which really helps me improve and I am always trying to learn new songs and techniques.  

Your co-star Steve told us his leather pants are quite tricky to wear – do you wish you got to dress as a rock star all the time too?

Not all the time! I hear leather pants (trousers) can be quite clingy and sweaty and I like to be comfortable in the way I dress. 

Iron Weasel is a rock band – what is the most rock and roll thing you’ve ever done?

I was taking part in my eighth grade talent contest at school and got far too enthusiastic. I rocked out so hard that I actually broke my guitar! Unfortunately, that is as rock and roll as it gets for me.

If you could be a pop star for a day who would you be?

I like so many pop stars, but I think it would
be fun to be Justin Bieber as he is so popular right now!

What’s the best thing about being in a show like this?

I’d have to say the people I get to work with. I always look forward to going into work because we all have such fun together. I really enjoy it. We get to do some really funny scenes. It always seems to take a while to get them right as we’re always laughing. We are
all like one big family. I couldn’t ask for a
better job!

Do you have a favourite moment from this series?

There are so many crazy things that happen this series but, in one of the episodes, our van is bought by some people who like to go live action role playing, or LARPING. Therefore, to get our van back we all have an epic battle in medieval costume, which was great to film, and very Lord Of the Rings!
